Job
Opening: Graduate Research Assistants
(02/01/2007)
The
department of Industrial and Systems Engineering,
Rutgers University announces two open positions
for graduate research assistants in the area
of (1) Combinatorial and Network Optimization
in Computational Biology and (2) Data Mining,
Statistical Analysis, and Optimization for Categorizing
Text Records.
The
first project focus is on the development and
application of advanced combinatorial and network
optimization techniques to solve biology-related
problems in modern biological science arenas.
The project will be carried out at Rutgers University
in collaboration with the departments of Computer
Science and Biological Sciences, University
of Illinois at Chicago.
The
second project focus is on the development and
application of advanced data mining techniques
and computational statistics to solve text mining-related
problems in the enterprise's text record framework.
The project will be carried out at Rutgers University
in collaboration with CISCO.
Advanced
knowledge in combinatorial optimization, graph
theory, complexity analysis, algorithm design,
and network optimization methods is required.
Additional knowledge in biology sciences, cell,
and molecular biology is desirable for the first
project. Additional knowledge in data mining
in text records is desirable for the second
project. Pearl/Phython (or other script languages),
C++, and Matlab programming is required.
For
both positions, the qualified students will
be appointed as a graduate research assistant
with all the benefits this position carried
